Mayor David Stahl announced that the city will not continue its water fluoridation process, citing language alluding to the "mass medication of the public."  Mayor Stahl also argued that bottled water and home filtering have rendered the $70,000 per year program ineffective. The township's Water Policy Advisory Council responded, recommending against the cessation of the policy 6-1. (last visited March 9, 2015).

As of March 26, 2015, the city has yet to decide whether to continue funding the program or not.
