§ Sec. 44-82 Fluoride abhorrent to tooth decay. It is hereby declared to be the consensus of scientific, dental and medical opinion that the presence of fluoride in the drinking water of the city is abhorrent to tooth decay. HISTORY NOTE: (Code 1994, § 17-308) § Sec. 44-83 Fluoride not found in sufficient quantities in water. It is hereby declared that such chemical element is not found in sufficient quantities in the natural water supply of the city being distributed to the citizens of the city to be beneficial as a health measure. HISTORY NOTE: (Code 1994, § 17-309) § Sec. 44-84 Introduction of fluoride into water; beneficial. It is hereby declared that fluoride can be introduced into the water furnished to the citizens of the city and that the same is a measure which will promote the public health and good of its citizens. HISTORY NOTE: (Code 1994, § 17-310) § Sec. 44-85 City clerk to procure approval of state board of health. The city clerk is hereby authorized and directed to procure the consent and approval of the state board of health to the use of apparatus and equipment, and the introduction of fluoride in the drinking water of the city furnished and to be furnished to its citizen. HISTORY NOTE: (Code 1994, § 17-311) § Sec. 44-86 City clerk to procure apparatus and to induce fluoride into the water. Upon securing the consent and approval of the state board of health, the city clerk is hereby authorized and directed to provide all the means, including machinery, apparatus and equipment, and to proceed with the introduction of approximately one part of fluoride to every 1,000,000 parts of water, and not to exceed 1½ parts of fluoride to every 1,000,000 parts of water, being furnished and distributed in and through the water supply system of the city.
